Purchasing, Inventory Control & Logistics Specialist
This role will be a member of the accounting team, this role will be to purchase domestic products, insure accurate and reliable inventory control, and provide logistics management. This position reports to the company controller and works closely with the company president on product purchasing. To be successful, this position requires constant communication and excellent working relationship with the company president, controller, and warehouse manager. Customer service, effective communication skills, and attention to detail are keys to your success. This role will have direct contact with vendors and freight companies. Within the organization, your customers include members of the supply sales team, construction team, warehouse, other accounting personnel, controller, and owners. It is critical that this role works closely with all parties to insure the product is available when needed and accurate inventory information in our computerized accounting system.
Responsibilities include:
Inventory:
- Manage physical inventory counts including monthly cycle counts and two annual complete inventory counts.
- Work with warehouse staff to maintain a properly organized warehouse.
- Perform inventory receipt, issue, and adjustment transactions in computerized accounting system.
- Investigate and reconcile inventory discrepancies.
- Propose procedures and processes for better inventory control.
- Maintain item records for complete and accurate information including descriptions, product lines, etc.
- Review daily pick slips for accuracy before billing.
Purchasing:
- Perform analysis of inventory movement and forecast inventory requirements. Offer suggestions to company president on product requirements/needs.
- Source and purchase domestic products for stock.
- Work with construction team to purchase materials required for construction jobs and arrange for delivery to jobsite in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Maintain relationships with domestic vendors and freight forwarders/companies including but not limited to negotiating product pricing, terms, and freight rates.
- Maintain records on ship schedules and product arrivals.
- Coordinate product arrivals with warehouse staff. Prepare beforehand and identify warehouse/yard space for arriving products. Coordinate trans-loads as needed.
- Review and Approve vendor invoices for payment.
- Produce monthly inventory reports for management as defined/required.
Logistics:
- Assist supply sales and construction teams with best method and cost-effective means of delivery of product to customers / jobsites.
- Assist supply sales and construction teams with shipment follow-up to confirm delivery requirements.
- Review and Approve freight bills for payment.
- Perform other duties as assigned, special projects and routine tasks such as filing and other job functions.
Job requirements:
- 5-7 years of inventory control responsibility in a fast-paced environment (preferably in the construction industry).
- Knowledge of products and freight requirements
- Negotiation skills, Strong attention to detail and accuracy, good math, and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and customers services skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office products and computerized accounting software.

Salary: $65,000 – $95,000/DOE
