Natural or artificial lake, storage pond, or impoundment created to store water by diverting an existing body of water or excavating flat ground and creating retaining walls and levees. Older concrete water reservoirs and tanks are prone to leakage and although structurally sound, are not water tight. An economical solution is to retrofit the old concrete reservoir to maintain adequate structural integrity and install a geomembrane lining system over the concrete surface.
