PermeaTex Jute blankets are woven from spun jute yarns that are 100% biodegradable with a lifespan of about 6 months, depending upon site conditions. Jute fiber is produced from plants in the Corchorus family, the harvested fibers are partially textile and partially wood (ligno-cellulsic fiber), and the fibers are spun into coarse, strong threads suitable for manufacture into jute blankets. Jute blankets are most commonly utilized in short life (One Year UV exposure) applications. Their primary function is to help stabilize soils until newly planted vegetation such as ivy or grass can establish their root system.
